Why now? The ICF just made mentor coaching more important.

The ICF is changing how coaches show their skill. Here's what that means for you in plain terms.

1. No more performance evaluation for ACC and PCC applicants. Starting April 1, 2027, you won't submit one recorded session to be scored pass or fail. Instead, your mentor coach observes your coaching across three sessions and completes a Competency Review Form.

2. Your mentor coach must hold the new Mentor Coach Specialization (MCS). Starting January 1, 2027, new mentor coaching hours for any ICF credential must be with an MCS mentor coach.

What this means for you: Your skill is judged across three sessions, with feedback along the way, not on one nervous recording. The ICF says the new process will be simpler, faster to review, and more affordable.

Every CRM mentor coach already holds the MCS. Coaching Excellence is built for the new model, so you can enroll with confidence now.

What you get

A CRM mentor coach who holds the ICF Mentor Coach Specialization (MCS).
4 live group mentor coaching sessions, 2 hours each, 10 people or fewer.
3 hours of one-on-one mentor coaching.
Review of 3 of your client coaching recordings.

How it works

Five simple steps over 3 months.

Pick your dates and enroll. Choose a group that fits your schedule. Groups are capped at 10.
Join 4 live group sessions. Each is 2 hours. You'll learn the PCC Markers, watch real coaching, practice, and get feedback. (see dates below)
Send in 3 client recordings. Your mentor coach reviews each one against the ICF standards.
Meet one-on-one for 3 hours. Go over your recordings together. Celebrate what's working and pick what to grow next. You schedule these directly with your mentor coach.
Get your documentation. You receive everything your ICF application or renewal needs: 20 ICF training hours (including 10 mentor coaching hours), your Session Observation Forms, and your completed Competency Review Form.

Before you enroll

You're ready if you have:

40 or more hours of coach training.
50 or more hours of coaching clients.
3 client sessions you can record during the course and share (with your clients' permission).

What we ask of you:

Attend the group sessions live. The ICF doesn't count listening to a recording. If you miss one, a live make-up session is $200.
Finish your one-on-one hours within 4 months of the start date.
Give 24 hours' notice to move a one-on-one session. Your mentor coach holds that time just for you, so late changes cost $200.

Common questions

I'm renewing my ACC. Does this count? Yes. The ICF requires 10 hours of mentor coaching each time you renew your ACC. Coaching Excellence gives you all 10, for a total of 20 ICF core competency training hours.

I'm completing my Level 2 or applying for ACC or PCC through the Portfolio path. Do I still need a performance evaluation? If you apply on or after April 1, 2027, no. Your MCS mentor coach's Competency Review Form takes its place, and we complete it for you. Keep your Session Observation Forms on file in case the ICF audits your application.

Do the hours add up to 30? No. You earn 20 ICF training hours. 10 of those also count as your mentor coaching hours. Count them only once.

What if I miss a group session? The ICF requires mentor coaching to be live. Contact us and we'll set up a live make-up session for $200.
